While staying in Brooklyn for her 2 month artist residency, Ellen Rutt carries a canvas around NYC, tracing elements and textures from the physical environment. By letting overlooked aspects of the landscape dictate the composition, she finds alternative ways of engaging with a new place. Ellen is a Detroit-based multi-disciplinary artist, best known for her murals and use of abstract shapes.
